Background: Gastric Cancer is one of the most important causesof death worldwide. Gastric Cancer occurs when cancer cellsform in the lining of the stomach. Risk factors include infectionwith H. pylori, increasing gene expression, or in some casesdecreasing gene expression in the Gastric cell line. In this study,our aim is to detect the Protein-protein interaction network toidentify hub genes related to Gastric Cancer.Materials and Methods: In this study, microarray data relatedto Gastric Cancer was extracted from the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO) database. All the differentially expressed genes(DEGs) with p<۰.۰۵ and fold change ≥۱ or ≤-۱ were identified.Then overexpression genes and down-expression genes were analyzedand a protein-protein interaction network was constructedusing Cytoscape software. Finally, to validate the mRNA expressionlevel of the hub genes in Gastric Cancer, the Gene ExpressionProfiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) database was used.Results: The gene expression dataset for Gastric Cancer wasobtained from the GEO database under the series GSE۲۶۳۷.The number of overexpression and down-expression geneswere ۱۷۲ and ۳۳۷, respectively. Protein-protein interaction networkwas drawn and hub genes: PMEL, TYR, PAH, FABP۱,MKI۶۷ were obtained. By analyzing hub genes in GEPIA,these consequences were acquired that PMEL, PAH, FABP۱,MKI۶۷, and TYR were overexpression genes in Gastric Cancer.Conclusion: Analyzing protein-protein interaction networksand genes that are related to Cancer is very important in drugdesign but this information is bioinformatics database. To validatedata they must be confirmed by experimental method.
