چکیده مقاله:
A Ti-5Al-2.5Sn matrix surface containing titanium carbide particles was produced by in situ process in which a powder mixture of titanium and graphite was reacted by TIG melting process. The hardness of the composite layer, with a thickness of about 1 mm, was increased to about 1448 HV0.2 due to the formation of titanium carbide in the layer. The wear resistance of the composite was also considerably enhanced as compared to the as-received sample
