In order to study of drought stress effect on sunflower restorers and CMS lines, two RBCDs were conducted in SPII farm in 2002 and 2004. In the first experiment inbredlines were irrigated as normal condition (irrigation after 60 mm evaporation from pan, class A) and the second, they were irrigated as water deficit stress condition (irrigation after 150mm evaporation from pan, Class A) after 8-10 leaves formation. Combined analyses of variance showed that drought had significant effects on morphological characteristics, yield and its components. Water deficit stress caused to decrease plant height in all of restorer and CMS lines. Stem diameter were reduced by water deficit. The results showed that water deficit stress caused to decrease leaf number in main stem. Head diameter was diminished by drought, too. The seed number per head was reduced for decreasing of head diameter. Seed weight was influenced by water deficit in 1383 and 1384. The yield was reduced in water deficit condition significantly that was due to decreasing of seed number per head and seed weight. Reducing of plant height, head diameter, seed number per head and seed weight of CMS lines were more than restorers. Correlation of stress tolerance and susceptibility indices with yield (two years) in control and water deficit condition showed that Mean productivity, geometric mean productivity, tolerance and susceptibility tolerance indices had positive and significant correlation to yield in control and water deficit stress. By these indices, R-N-31, R-N-30, R-217 among restorers and CMS-51, CMS-956/1, CMS-19 among CMS lines were superior. They produced suitable seed yield in two conditions.
