In today machine life that most people do not have enough mobility, exercise can plays important role in providing physical and mental health for people in society. To pay attention to psychology and behavioral sciences as well as their relation with human body is considered more and more, nowadays. So, the main question of present study is that if there is significant difference between mental health of wrestler male students and non-athlete students, and if yes, how is that difference?The methodology of research was descriptive-correlation, and the method of implementation was field study. The sample included ۱۰۰ Tehran university’s students (۵۰ male wrestler and ۵۰ non-athletes). The examinees were selected randomly. The standard questionnaire GHQ-۲۸ was used to measure the mental health of students. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the status of examinees, and independent t-test was used to compare the means of mental health between ۲ populations. Furthermore, Spearman’s Correlation Coefficient was used to examine the link between mental health and exercise experiences.The results show that there was significant difference between the mean of scores in three items of the four items namely somatic symptoms, social function, and depression between the two groups so that the wrestler students had better status (p> ۰.۰۵). There was also difference in the mean of item “Anxiety and sleep disorders symptoms” in the ۲ groups, but the difference was not significant (p> ۰.۰۵). There was not any significant relationship between exercise experience and mental health of athletes(p > ۰.۰۵).In the present study between physical activity and mental health were significantly positive relationship and with most of the conducted researches is consistent.There was not any significant relationship between exercise experience and mental health of athletes. This means that everyone in every age can fulfills exercise and benefits from its mental advantages because he needs no previous experience in exercise.
