Objective: In daily life, cognitive therapy is one of the skills that can be taught toincrease the levels of self-efficacy and Weight Loss. The purpose of this study wasto evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive therapy based on mindfulness skills inpromoting self-efficacy and self management in patients with diabetes type ۲ inthe city of Salas city of Kermanshah province. .Materials and Methods: The present study is an experiment with a pre-test-posttestdesign with a control group. The statistical population of the study was allpatients with diabetes type ۲ in Salas city of Kermanshah province. Thirty peoplewere randomly divided into two groups of ۱۵ experimental and controlled bysampling. After that, the experimental group was trained in cognitive therapy skillsand self management for ۸ weeks in a total of ۸ sessions of two-hour. Aftercompleting the training and after one month, the post -test was performedsimultaneously and under the same conditions for both experimental and controlgroups. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA)with SPSS ۲۴ software.Results: Results of analysis of covariance on post-test means, there is a significantdifference between cognitive therapy and control groups in self-efficacy andWeight Loss variables (P-value< ۰.۰۵). The value of squares indicates that about۷۸% of the variance of the self-efficacy score and about ۵۸% of the variance of theWeight Loss score is explained by the difference between the two methods.Conclusion: cognitive therapy training is effective on self-efficacy and WeightLoss of diabetic patients.
