چکیده مقاله:

One method to improve the plasticity of Bulk glassy alloys is producing a composite structure.Increasing the casting diameter together with decreasing the cooling rate can introduce a crystallinephase to the glassy matrix and produce a composite structure. Amongst all glassy alloys, Fe-basedalloys have currently gained attention due to their rather high glass-forming ability as well as theirreasonable price. In this study, the (Fe۱-xNix)۷۷Mo۵P۹C۷.۵B۱.۵ (x=۰.۰۵) glassy alloy was fabricated byinduction melting in an alumina tube and injection casting in a water-circumference copper mold. Xraydiffraction and differential scanning thermal analyses were conducted for ۱ and ۲-mm diameteralloys. According to the analyses, the ۱ mm-diameter alloy has an amorphous structure while the ۲-mm-diameter alloy contains some in-situ nanocrystalline Fe۲NiP phase in the amorphous matrix whichwas formed during cooling from the melt. Using the data from the X-ray diffraction pattern, the size ofthe Fe۲NiP crystallite phase and its volume fraction were estimated to be about ۲۲ nanometers and ۱۸%,respectively. This verifies the fabrication of in-situ amorphous-crystalline nanocomposite of(Fe۰.۹۵Ni۰.۰۵)۷۷Mo۵P۹C۷.۵B۱.۵ alloy.
