Comparison of surface water quality of Darabkola by standards of water quality

Water is a limited natural resource; it is necessary to evaluate quality of water in order to asses its suitability. The objective of this study was to compare the water quality of river and stream crossings of 30 years old road, and compare them with standard values of WHO and Iran national standards. The sampling was done in river and stream crossing in March-May of 2014. T-test was done to test the significant difference of water quality of stream and river. Also, water sample parameters were compared with standard values recommended by WHO and Iran national standard 1053. Results showed that only TDS and EC values had significant difference between river and stream water. The experimental mean values of pH were found within the prescribed limit as suggested by WHO and Iran national standard; but other parameters were lower than standard limits. Regular estimation of water quality could recommend because it could be helpful to improve water quality.
